Exciting news for Pune residents as the much-anticipated double-decker flyover at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk is set to open in phases starting in April 2025. According to Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole, the first section connecting Aundh to Ganeshkhind Road will be operational by early April, with the entire flyover expected to be completed by June 15, 2025.

The flyover project aims to reduce congestion at the busy University Chowk area, connecting major areas like Aundh, Baner, Pashan, and Ganeshkhind Road. Despite ongoing construction, traffic management has been efficient, thanks to the efforts of the city’s traffic police.

The project highlights the benefits of improved connectivity, reduced commute times, and integrated urban planning alongside the Pune Metro development. Construction milestones include the opening of the Aundh to Ganeshkhind Road section in April and the completion of the Ganeshkhind Road to Baner and Pashan sections by mid-June.

Challenges such as land acquisition and road widening have been overcome through collaborative efforts between the PMRDA, municipal corporation, and traffic police. Stakeholders have been actively involved in site inspections to ensure timely completion of the project.

The flyover is expected to enhance traffic flow, boost local development, and contribute to Pune’s transformation into a modern, commuter-friendly city. With phase-wise completion on the horizon, the Pune University Flyover is set to be a game-changer for the city’s transport infrastructure.
