If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in traffic around Lohgaon Airport in Pune, you’re not alone. The congestion in the area has been getting worse, but relief is on the way. The VIP road connecting the airport to Weikfield Chowk is getting a makeover, thanks to the Defence Department granting extra space for widening.
This 2.5-kilometer stretch of road is a crucial route for high-profile officials, including the President and Prime Minister, to access Nagar Road. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit for the Assembly Election campaign, the roadwork is being fast-tracked to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is leading the expansion efforts, with plans to construct new roads and widen existing ones near the airport. The additional six meters on each side of the VIP road will help alleviate the traffic woes, making it easier for VIP convoys to navigate the area.
Chief Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar is overseeing the project and has already begun cleaning up the overgrown areas and leveling the ground for tarmacking. The PMC is determined to improve the infrastructure around Lohgaon Airport, making it easier for both VIPs and regular commuters to travel without delays.
With the upgrade in progress, residents and visitors can look forward to a smoother and more efficient travel experience around Pune’s bustling airport. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
