Hey there, Pune folks! Get ready to grab those umbrellas because the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for our city today and tomorrow. And guess what? An orange alert is on the horizon for the 26th of August. Looks like the rain gods are really showing off this year!

With heavy rainfall pounding Maharashtra, all the dams in the region are filling up fast. This has led to authorities releasing extra water, which has sparked concerns about possible flooding for the third time in 2024. But don’t worry, the IMD has got our backs with their color-coded alerts. A red alert means serious business – think major disruptions and damage. An orange alert signals heavy rain that could mess with our daily routines. And a yellow alert? Well, that’s just a heads up for some moderate rainfall and possible minor issues.

After a brief break, the rain is back with a vengeance. Pune is currently under a red alert, which will last until tomorrow. Brace yourselves for some serious showers today and tomorrow, followed by slightly lighter rain over the next few days. But we’re not the only ones getting soaked – Satara, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Raigad are also under red alerts today. And there’s more – Kolhapur, Thane, Palghar, and a bunch of other districts are on orange alert, while a few others are on yellow alert.

Tomorrow, Pune, Satara, and Raigad will still be in the red alert zone. So, stay safe, stay dry, and keep those raincoats handy, Pune!
