Pune was buzzing with excitement on August 27 as 35 Ganesh mandals came together for a thrilling Dahi-Handi celebration organized by Punit Balan Group (PBG). The event, held at Lal Mahal Chowk, saw a massive turnout of young participants who formed human pyramids to break the Dahi-Handi. The Shivtej Dahi-Handi Sangh emerged victorious with a seven-layer pyramid and took home the trophy.

Entrepreneur Punit Balan’s decision to host a common Dahi-Handi celebration was aimed at reducing traffic congestion and easing the burden on the police force. The event kicked off at 4 pm with energetic beats of Dhol-Tasha and foot-tapping DJ music, creating a lively atmosphere. Despite occasional showers, the enthusiasm of the crowd remained high, with women and young people coming out in large numbers to witness the spectacle.

The highlight of the event was an all-women Govinda team from Chembur, Mumbai, who captivated the audience with their performance. The Shiv Tej Dahi-Handi Sangh stole the show by breaking the Dahi-Handi with a seven-layer pyramid, earning them the winner’s trophy presented by Punit Balan and actor Pravin Tarde.

In his closing remarks, Punit Balan expressed his gratitude to all the participating mandals and the enthusiastic Puneites who made the event a success. He also thanked the Police Department for ensuring the safety of all attendees. With the conclusion of the event, Puneites were left with fond memories of a vibrant and unforgettable Dahi-Handi celebration.
