Hey there, folks! Exciting news coming out of Shivajinagar in Pune! The iconic statue of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at Deccan Corner is getting a major upgrade thanks to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The PMC recently approved a tender worth Rs 47.27 lakh for the installation of a new ‘Meghdambari’ and beautification of the surrounding area.
It all started when various social organizations requested the PMC to enhance the memorial and Garware subway in Shivajinagar. PMC Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale, along with other officials, visited the site and the Building Design Department of the PMC came up with a proposal for the project.
The plan includes building a raised platform around the statue, constructing an attractive Meghadambari using polyester resin, and creating a platform for citizens to pay their respects. Steps will also be added for access, and masonry work will be done for beautification.
For those unfamiliar with the term, “Meghdambari” is a structure dedicated to housing the image or relics of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in certain parts of Maharashtra.
So, get ready to witness the transformation of the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj statue in Shivajinagar! Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project.
