Hey Pune peeps, it looks like we’ve got a bit of a mosquito problem on our hands! Dengue cases are on the rise in our city, with a whopping 389 suspected cases reported this month alone. Yikes! And that’s not all – we’ve also got 8 chikungunya patients and a Zika outbreak with more than 30 cases detected.

The numbers are pretty alarming – last month we had 157 suspected dengue cases, but only 1 confirmed. And from January to May, we were seeing less than 100 cases each month. But once the monsoon hit in June, the numbers started climbing. So far this year, we’ve had 873 suspected dengue cases, with 21 confirmed.

But fear not, the PMC Health Department is on the case. They’re working hard to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites to help curb the spread of these diseases. And they mean business – they’ve already collected over Rs 4 lakh in fines from folks who had mosquito breeding sites on their properties.

And let’s not forget about Zika – we’ve got 37 cases in the city, with hotspots in Erandwane and Dahanukar Colony. Pregnant women are particularly at risk, with 13 cases reported. So stay safe, Pune, and let’s all do our part to keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay!
