Pune’s historic sites, Shaniwarwada and Aga Khan Palace, are getting a vibrant makeover thanks to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The beautification project includes adding seasonal flowers, preserving ancient murals, and maintaining lush gardens at both locations.
Shaniwarwada, known for its rich history, is now adorned with colourful marigolds and European flowers, along with fresh paint on older trees. The ancient murals depicting deities like Sheshashayi Vishnu and Lord Ganesha are also being carefully preserved to maintain the site’s historical significance.
At Aga Khan Palace, the gardens are now lush with green lawns and vibrant flowering plants, while water supply issues have been resolved to keep the improvements well-maintained. The palace’s connection to Mahatma Gandhi during the Quit India Movement adds to its cultural and historical importance, making it a symbol of India’s struggle for independence.
These ongoing beautification efforts not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of these iconic sites but also ensure that their rich cultural heritage is preserved for future generations to enjoy.
