The construction of the Katraj Chowk flyover in Pune is facing challenges due to ineffective traffic diversion planning. Two trials conducted to test alternative routes resulted in severe congestion, highlighting the need for better planning and public awareness campaigns. To address these issues, a joint meeting was held involving NHAI officials, traffic police, PMPML, rickshaw unions, and private transport operators.

To expedite the construction process, heavy vehicles will be diverted via Navale Bridge and Sinhgad Road, while PMPML routes will be adjusted to minimize disruption. Encroachments and parking issues are also being addressed to ensure smooth progress.

Although the project deadline has been extended to December 2024, authorities stress the importance of collaboration for successful completion. Stakeholders, including NHAI, PMPML, and the traffic police, emphasize the need for public cooperation and awareness to ensure the project’s success.

The Katraj Chowk flyover is a critical development for Pune, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. While challenges remain, collaborative efforts and public support are key to ensuring the project’s timely and successful completion.
