So, here’s the scoop on the latest transportation news in Pune – the PMPML is hitting a roadblock in their plans to purchase 100 new buses. The decision got stuck in limbo during a recent Board of Directors meeting, leaving passengers in the lurch.

Originally, the proposal was to acquire 100 new buses, including 20 double-deckers and 80 air-conditioned ones, to amp up the city’s public transport. But, the discussion on adding wheelchair-friendly buses got pushed to the back burner, causing the delay.

The focus now is on getting 100 CNG buses to make commuting easier for folks in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. And if that’s not enough, they’re looking to lease another 200 vehicles to bridge the gap in transportation services.

But here’s the kicker – with only 2,142 buses in their fleet and a daily operation of 1,400, the demand is far outstripping the supply. To meet the recommended ratio of 50 buses per one lakh people, they need a whopping 3,500 buses. And that’s where the snag lies.

So, until the PMPML sorts out their bus-buying dilemma, Puneites will have to keep waiting for smoother rides around town. Let’s hope they can speed up the process and get those wheels rolling soon!
