With Ganeshotsav just around the corner, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal (PMPML) is gearing up to handle the anticipated surge in commuter traffic. To ensure smooth transportation for all, PMPML has announced the deployment of 800 additional buses under a special service called “Yatra Special.”

The buses will be rolled out in two phases to effectively manage the influx of passengers during the festival. The first phase will see 168 extra buses in operation on September 9, 10, and 16, while the second phase will witness a significant increase with 620 buses running from September 11 to 15. This phased approach aims to provide uninterrupted travel for passengers throughout Ganeshotsav.

In order to cover the increased operational costs, PMPML has announced a ₹5 fare hike for trips taken after the second shift each day. Additionally, passes will no longer be valid after midnight, requiring passengers to purchase individual tickets for late-night travel.

To tackle the expected traffic congestion, especially in central Pune where roads will be closed, PMPML will be implementing route adjustments for their buses. These alternative routes aim to minimize delays and ensure a smoother travel experience for passengers during Ganeshotsav.

In summary, Phase 1 will see 168 buses deployed on September 9, 10, and 16, while Phase 2 will feature 620 buses running from September 11 to 15. Passengers should be aware of the ₹5 fare increase for second-shift journeys, the restriction on passes after midnight, and the route changes in central Pune to avoid road closures.

As Ganeshotsav approaches, commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance, taking into consideration the route and fare changes. PMPML’s efforts to enhance transportation services during the festival will benefit thousands of travelers, making the festive period more enjoyable and convenient for all. Stay tuned for further updates and enjoy a smooth and festive travel experience with PMPML.
