Hey there, Pune peeps! Big news coming your way – the iconic Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati festival is making a major change this year. The trustee, Punit Balan, announced that the 133-year-old tradition of including bullocks in the arrival and immersion processions will be put on hold. Why, you ask? Well, to prevent the poor animals from facing hardships during the celebrations.

At a recent event where Joint Commissioner of Police, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, performed the Vasapujan ceremony, Balan spilled the beans. This year, instead of the bullocks, a replica of the Varad Vighneshwar Wada will take center stage during the festivities. The arrival and immersion processions will now be led by devotees and mandal workers, with a special chariot all set for the immersion.

The police are fully on board with this change, with Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma giving his full support. He emphasized the significance of Shri Ganesha in Indian culture and praised the global reach of the festival initiated by Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari.

But hold up, there’s some drama too! Actor Shubhangi Gokhale raised concerns about alleged irregularities in the public Ganesh festival. Punit Balan wasn’t having any of it, calling it a publicity stunt to promote her film. Shots fired! He even invited her to Pune to see the festival’s positive impact firsthand.

With DCP Sandeep Singh Gill, PI Vijaymala Pawar, and other key figures present, the festival is gearing up to be a blast. So get ready to celebrate with gusto, Pune Police has got your back!
