Hey there, folks! Big news for all you travelers and commuters between Pune and Nashik – the railway connectivity is about to get a major upgrade! The 248-km Daund–Manmad railway line is getting doubled up, with 178 km already completed and the rest in progress.

But wait, there’s more! Surveys have been approved for not one, not two, but three new railway projects in the area. We’re talking about a new double line between Nashik and Sainagar Shirdi, another one between Pune and Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar), and the doubling of the Sainagar Shirdi–Puntamba line. Detailed Project Reports will be prepared once the surveys are done.

And guess what? There’s also talk about a direct railway connection between Pune and Nashik. The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. has been working on this project, but they hit a roadblock when the proposed alignment passed through Narayangaon, home to the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope. Looks like they’ll have to find a new route.

Right now, Pune and Nashik are connected via two longer and less efficient routes, but these new projects are set to change that. The Minister of Railways mentioned that these projects are sanctioned based on various factors, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for smooth operations and improved connectivity between these two bustling cities. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
