Heavy rains in Pune and the Dharan area over the past two days have caused chaos for residents, especially along Sinhagad Road. The decision to release water from the dam in the middle of the night led to widespread flooding, catching many off guard.

Settlements along the riverbed on Sinhagad Road, such as Jalvihar, Jalpujan, Ekta Nagari, and others, experienced waist-deep water as residents scrambled to save their belongings and seek higher ground. The lack of prior notice from the municipal administration left many frustrated and angry.

Local resident Jadhav Kaku expressed his discontent, stating that earlier notification could have helped them prepare for the flooding. The Dharwatkar family also voiced concerns about the sudden release of water, leading to significant losses.

Firefighters and NDRF teams struggled to reach the affected areas due to narrow roads and increased parking. Despite efforts to manage the situation, the lack of communication and preparedness was evident.

As residents recover from the unexpected flood, there are growing calls for improved communication and better emergency preparedness in the future to handle such situations more effectively.
