Residents of Gokhale Nagar and Janwadi in Pune are facing a health crisis as they are being supplied with contaminated, muddy water that has a foul odor. This issue has been ongoing for the past 10 days, with residents near Nana Tea Hotel opposite Janwadi Masjid, Ota Ghar, and Ekta housing society being affected.

Local resident Sharukh Shaikh expressed concern over the situation, blaming old water pipelines with leakages that allow sewage from nearby drainage lines to mix in with the water supply. As a result, residents have been forced to buy clean water to meet their daily needs.

Despite repeated attempts to contact Kedar Sathe, Deputy Engineer of the Water Supply Department at PMC, he was not available for comment on the matter.

Pravin Dongre, Area Head of Shiv Sena (UBT), has called on civic officials to urgently address the issue to safeguard public health and hygiene. He warned that if the problem is not resolved promptly, residents may resort to agitation to demand a solution.

The situation in Gokhale Nagar and Janwadi serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining infrastructure and ensuring the delivery of clean, safe drinking water to all residents.
