Residents of Amanora Park Town in Hadapsar took to the streets today to protest against the increasing stray dog menace in their township. The protest was fueled by recent incidents of rabid strays attacking children, causing fear and frustration among the residents.
The protestors highlighted their efforts to work with government authorities in setting up an Animal Welfare Committee, but they expressed disappointment over the lack of support from officials to effectively tackle the issue. They claimed that designated feeding spots for strays were being violated, and there was illegal relocation of strays to different sectors of Amanora, exacerbating the problem.
The community strays have also become more aggressive, leading to fights with newly relocated strays and raising safety concerns for residents. The lack of adherence to Animal Birth Control (ABC) 2023 rules by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) veterinary officers was also criticized by the protestors, who claimed that essential records and vaccination information for strays were not being maintained.
In response to the protest, Amanora Park Town management, led by MD Anirudha Deshpande, engaged with residents to address their grievances. A meeting was held to discuss legal and practical solutions under existing laws, with promises of concrete action to tackle the issue.
Despite these discussions, residents expressed disappointment over the lack of support from government officials and are reportedly considering legal action against those responsible for the alleged violations. With tensions still high and no immediate resolution in sight, residents warned that the situation could escalate further if swift action is not taken.
