Residents of the Ganga Ishanya Co-operative Housing Society in Pune’s Dhankawadi area are up in arms against developer Goel Ganga Developments, demanding action from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Despite a court order, the residents claim that no significant steps have been taken to address their grievances.
The dispute dates back to alleged deviations from the agreed-upon development plans, with residents accusing the PMC of sanctioning an inaccurate layout plan for the buildings. The residents argue that the developer made unauthorized alterations to the project, including the reduction of promised amenities and changes to the road layout without their consent.
Following a petition filed with the Bombay High Court, the residents managed to secure a directive for the PMC commissioner to review their complaints within three weeks. However, residents are dissatisfied with the lack of progress since the court’s decision and are now planning a protest march to demand action.
Key concerns raised by residents include the restoration of the original layout and amenities, accountability from both the PMC and the developer, compliance with court orders, and future protections against unauthorized alterations. The residents are determined to fight for their rights and ensure transparency and compliance in housing development.
The ongoing protest serves as a reminder of the importance of holding developers and civic authorities accountable for fulfilling promises made to residents. As the residents continue to push for a resolution, the outcome of this dispute will likely set a precedent for future conflicts between residents and developers.
