The Water Resources Department is not taking any chances and has issued a warning for residents living near the Mula-Mutha and Pavana rivers to be on high alert for potential flooding. The Khadakwasla Irrigation Division is also asking Pune residents to keep a close eye out as the Khadakwasla Dam is nearly overflowing at 90.39% capacity.
With the IMD predicting more heavy rainfall in the coming days, there’s a good chance we’ll see some significant water discharge into the rivers. Authorities are advising citizens to steer clear of riverbeds, especially in the Pune Municipal and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal areas, and to move any belongings or animals to safer ground.
