Yerwada was rocked by a tragic incident on Diwali night as a tempo driver lost his life in a shooting. The victim, identified as Shahnawaz Shaikh, was fatally shot by a retired army man, Shrikant Patil, during a dispute over parking space in the Ashoknagar area.
The altercation took a deadly turn around 11 pm on Thursday when Patil and Shaikh got into a heated argument that ended with Patil pulling the trigger. Shaikh was rushed to Sassoon Hospital but sadly, he couldn’t survive his injuries.
Yerwada police station and crime branch teams responded to the scene promptly upon receiving the news. Patil has been taken into custody for further questioning as the investigation unfolds.
