Hey Baner folks, it seems like the festive season has brought some unwanted trouble along with it. In a shocking incident, a firecracker shop in Baner Road fell victim to a group of thieves who not only stole firecrackers and mobile phones but also assaulted the shop owner and his nephews. Talk about taking advantage of the Diwali festivities!
The incident occurred at the Sairaj Hitam shop in Kalamkar Chowk, Baner, during the wee hours of Friday morning. The shop owner and his nephew had just closed up for the night and were catching some shut-eye when the thieves barged in around 3:30 a.m. on their two-wheelers. They didn’t hesitate to attack the unsuspecting uncle and nephew before making off with their loot of firecrackers, mobile sets, and cash.
Over in Vishrantwadi, a woman had a terrifying encounter with chain snatchers while walking near her residence in Yerawada. Two unidentified thieves on a two-wheeler swooped in and snatched her mangalsutra, worth a whopping ₹80,000. The poor victim wasted no time in reporting the incident to the authorities at the Vishrantwadi police station.
These incidents have certainly raised concerns about the spike in thefts during the festive season. But fear not, for the police are on the case! Police Sub-Inspectors Patil and Chaudhary are leading the investigations into these cases and are determined to catch the culprits responsible for these despicable acts.
Stay safe out there, Banerites, and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity during this festive period. Let’s hope for a peaceful and joyous Diwali season without any more incidents like these.
