Hey there, folks of Pune! Looks like the auto rickshaw scene in the city has been booming lately. With the population crossing 80 lakh, it’s no surprise that there’s been an increase in the number of rickshaws on the roads. But here’s the kicker – turns out, some people who are already working in private or government jobs have been snagging rickshaw permits too.
Well, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) ain’t too happy about that. They’ve decided to crack down on this issue by introducing a new guideline. According to this rule, if you’re already employed elsewhere, you can’t hold a rickshaw permit. And if you already have one, you better return it by January 31 or face the consequences.
Seems like the RTO had been issuing permits left and right since 2017, resulting in over 83,000 rickshaw licenses in Pune and 40,000 in Pimpri Chinchwad. But hey, these permits are meant for those who actually need them, not for folks who already have a job on the side.
So, if you’re one of those double-dipping rickshaw drivers, better think twice before January 31 rolls around. The RTO means business and they won’t hesitate to take strict action against those who don’t play by the rules. Let’s keep the streets of Pune fair and square, shall we?
