Get ready to shell out more money for your haircuts and bakery items, folks! Starting January 1, residents in Maharashtra will see a 20% to 30% price hike for salon services, according to the Maharashtra Association of Salon and Beauty Parlour Operators. This means that your basic haircut, currently priced between Rs 130 and Rs 200, could increase by Rs 26 to Rs 40. Shaving services, which range between Rs 70 and Rs 100, will also see an increase of Rs 14 to Rs 20. And for women, get ready to pay more for haircuts, facials, and hair coloring services, with prices expected to rise by Rs 600 to Rs 1,500 on average.
The president of the association, Prasad Chavan, explained that the decision to hike prices was necessary due to inflationary pressures and rising operational costs. He mentioned that salon owners are still struggling to recover from the financial losses incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, making it essential to adjust prices to cover expenses.
But that’s not all – bakery prices are also on the rise! The Maharashtra Bakers Association has increased the prices of bread and biscuits due to rising input costs. Refined flour prices have surged from Rs 1,300-1,400 per 50 kg to Rs 2,000, while refined oil prices have risen from Rs 90 per kg to Rs 150 per kg. This means that your favorite bakery items like khari, butter toast, and biscuits will now cost you more, with prices going up by Rs 50 to Rs 100 per kg.
So, get ready to dig a little deeper into your pockets next year for your grooming and bakery needs as businesses adjust to the changing economic landscape.
