Residents of Undri in Pune are fed up with the lack of infrastructure development in their area. The Mohammadwadi-Undri Residents’ Welfare Development Foundation (MURWDF) recently presented a “Citizens’ Manifesto” to address the urgent needs of the community. Suniel Iyer, a representative of MURWDF, highlighted the frustration felt by residents who have been dealing with unreliable water supply, poor roads, and a lack of public amenities for years.
Animesh Prasad, a resident of Godrej Horizon, stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in public works. He emphasized the need for residents to be informed and involved in development projects initiated by elected officials.
Vaidehi Suryavanshi from Nyati Esteban pointed out that the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Development Plan Report (DPR) is missing, which has hindered the progress of the area. She mentioned the urgent need for basic amenities such as roads, water supply, drainage, and security.
Deepti Mishra, a resident of Palazzo society, echoed the sentiment that the area lacks essential public amenities. She mentioned the heavy reliance on tankers for water supply, the absence of walkways, and the lack of public transportation in the area. Residents are looking for a representative who will deliver on their promises.
In response to these concerns, Zende, a candidate in the upcoming election, acknowledged the challenges faced by merged villages in Pune. He promised to prioritize addressing these infrastructure issues if elected. Residents are hopeful that their needs will finally be met.
