In a recent development in Pune, the Department of Pediatrics at B.J. Government Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital successfully organized the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Pediatric Workshop. The workshop, held on November 29 and 30, saw the participation of 40 healthcare providers from across Maharashtra.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dean Dr. Eknath Pawar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Yallappa Jadhav, and Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Khedkar. Dr. Pawar highlighted the importance of Basic Life Support training, emphasizing that it is a crucial skill that can save lives in emergencies such as cardiac arrest.
Participants at the workshop received hands-on training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other life-saving techniques, with a focus on effectively handling emergencies. The Department of Pediatrics at Sassoon General Hospital is a nationally recognized IAP-accredited center for Basic and Advanced Life Support, making it a vital training hub in the region.
Under the leadership of Dr. Aarti Kinikar, the Head of the Department of Pediatrics, and Vice Dean of B.J. Government Medical College, the center has trained numerous healthcare providers in Basic and Advanced Life Support since 2017. Dr. Uday Rajput, the Center Director and National Trainer, along with other national trainers, have played a crucial role in the success of the center.
