The Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF) has come out strongly against the recently released movie Mrs, accusing it of spreading “toxic feminist propaganda” and perpetuating negative stereotypes about men. The organization claims that the film presents a one-sided feminist narrative while ignoring the struggles of men in marriages and domestic violence cases. SIFF has launched a campaign calling for a boycott of the film and its lead actress, Sanya Malhotra.
According to SIFF, Mrs fails to acknowledge that men can also be victims of domestic abuse and argues that the film demonizes men, reinforcing gender bias in society. The organization points to statistics showing that two-thirds of domestic violence cases are initiated by women and that a significant percentage of male suicides in India are linked to family-related issues.
SIFF’s National Coordinator, Sameer Goel, criticized what he sees as the “brainwashing” effect of modern feminist narratives, questioning why men’s efforts are often ignored while women are portrayed as lifelong victims. Co-Founder Anil Murty emphasized the need for true gender equality, stating that men should not be seen as oppressors simply for fulfilling traditional roles.
The organization also advocates for the implementation of prenuptial agreements in India to prevent legal battles and protect men from biased marriage laws. SIFF believes that prenups can foster relationships based on trust and mutual respect, rather than legal disputes.
In response to Mrs, SIFF has outlined six key demands, including an apology from the filmmakers, prevention of films promoting “male genocide” narratives, introduction of prenuptial agreements in the marriage system, punishment for those filing false cases, gender-neutral treatment in courts, and a government-led commission to investigate male suicides in India.
SIFF activists have launched a #BoycottSanyaMalhotra campaign on social media, urging people to reject films that perpetuate biased gender narratives. The organization warns that such movies contribute to gender conflicts rather than promoting equality.
