In the aftermath of violent clashes in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Pune police have stepped up security measures to prevent any potential disturbances. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma have instructed officers to remain vigilant and ensure law and order is maintained.
The unrest in Nagpur on Monday night involved vehicles being set on fire, stones thrown at passing traffic, and destruction of CCTV cameras. Additionally, two-wheelers were torched and residential properties were attacked.
To address the situation, Pune police have increased patrolling in sensitive areas and established additional security checkpoints near religious sites. The State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) has also been deployed in the city as a precautionary measure.
Authorities have assured residents that the situation in Pune is under control and there is no need for panic. They have advised citizens to report any suspicious activities and not to believe in rumors.
A high-level review meeting is scheduled for Tuesday to assess security measures and discuss further preventive actions.
