Hey there, architecture enthusiasts! Big news coming out of Pune – three senior architects, Jubair Shaikh, Anil Hatkar, and Iqbal Chani, were recently honoured with the prestigious ‘IIA S.K. Belwalkar Award’ for Excellence in Profession by the Pune Centre of the Indian Institute of Architects. These guys have over 45 years of experience in the field, so you know they deserve it!

But that’s not all – five top-notch educators from architecture colleges in the Pune region were also recognized with the ‘IIA S.J. Contracts Award’ for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Abhijit Natu, Dr. Sujata Karve, Prof. Fatima Kabir, Prof. Aarti Patil, and Dr. Swati Sahasrabuddhe were all felicitated during a special ceremony held at Pandit Farms to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the IIA Pune Centre.

The event was attended by some big names in the architecture world, including Architects Sandeep Bavadekar and Samir Belwalkar, Saurabh Jangle, Director of S.J. Contracts, and IIA Pune Centre Chairman Architect Vikas Achalkar. Architect Vivek Bhole and Architect Biju Kuriakose also shared their insights on the industry during the event.

Architect Vivek Bhole talked about the advantages of higher FSI in Mumbai compared to Pune and emphasized the need for architects to think outside the box. Meanwhile, Architect Biju Kuriakose discussed the challenges architects face today and the importance of connecting with society beyond just building construction.

Overall, it was a night filled with inspiration and celebration of the architecture community in Pune. Over 500 guests, including architects, students, and professionals, attended the event, which was concluded with a beautiful Sufi Night performance by Tariq Faiz. Exciting stuff happening in the world of architecture!
