Hey there, folks! In a shocking turn of events, a cunning fraudster from Karnataka has been busted in Pune for targeting unsuspecting senior citizens at ATMs. The mastermind behind this scheme is none other than Raju Pralhad Kulkarni, a 54-year-old man hailing from Mysore.
So, here’s how Kulkarni operated – he would offer his help to elderly individuals at ATMs, only to slyly steal their cards and get hold of their PINs. After that, he would swap the genuine card with a fake one, claiming that the ATM was acting up. Once the victim left, Kulkarni would swiftly withdraw money from their account using the stolen card.
The latest incident that led to his arrest took place on 2nd February at a bank ATM in Ganjve Chowk. The Vishrambaug Police managed to track down Kulkarni, who had fled to Karnataka after committing the crime. This man was no small-time crook – he managed to defraud a whopping 21 senior citizens in total.
Kulkarni strategically targeted areas with a high population of retirees, especially during the first week of the month when pension payments are made. His crime spree covered various parts of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, including Vishrambaug, Bibvewadi, Sinhagad Road, Kothrud, Vishrantwadi, Shivajinagar, Sahakar Nagar, and the Alandi area.
But fear not, dear readers, justice has prevailed! Thanks to the relentless efforts of the Pune Police under the leadership of Additional Commissioner of Police (West) Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Vishrambaug Division) Sainath Thombre, Kulkarni has been apprehended. Kudos to Senior Police Inspector Vijayamala Pawar and her team at the Vishrambaug Police Station for their swift action.
Let this be a lesson to all – stay vigilant, especially when dealing with strangers at ATMs. And to all the scammers out there, remember – crime doesn’t pay!
