Shirur was rocked by a violent incident in Kendur village recently, where a land dispute turned ugly. According to reports, a man named Vinayak Sadashiv Thite and nine others got into a heated argument with his cousin, Rajendra Nathu Thete, over ownership of a piece of ancestral land.
The situation escalated quickly, with Vinayak allegedly trying to run over Rajendra with a car. Rajendra sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Shikrapur. It all started when Rajendra, along with his family, returned to their village home and found a letter near an electricity meter that Rajendra had relocated on his land.
Vinayak and his group claimed ownership of the land and physically assaulted Rajendra when he tried to move the meter. The altercation was captured on video by Rajendra’s daughter, Pratibha, before the accused confiscated her phone. The situation took a dangerous turn when Vinayak reportedly chased Rajendra in his car and attempted to run him over.
Rajendra managed to climb onto the car’s bonnet to avoid being hit. The police have filed a case against Vinayak and his accomplices and are currently investigating the matter further. This incident has left the residents of Kendur village shocked and concerned about the escalating violence over property disputes.
