If you are a regular commuter on Sinhagad Road in Pune, you are in for some good news! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that the long-awaited flyover connecting Rajaram Bridge to Fun Time Theatre in Dhayari will be open for public use by March 2025.

Yuvraj Deshmukh, head of PMC’s Project Management Department, has confirmed that the final stages of the project are almost complete. The last girder is being laid at Hingne Chowk, and the ramps on both sides are under construction. Other tasks like railing installation, asphalting, and street lighting are also in progress and will be finished by mid-March.

This flyover is part of PMC’s efforts to tackle the severe traffic congestion on Sinhagad Road, which has become a major bottleneck due to the increasing traffic to the Khadakwasla Dam area. Before the flyover construction, commuters often faced delays of up to an hour during peak hours at five major intersections and several side roads along the stretch.

The flyover project was initiated in two phases, with the first phase completed before the Lok Sabha elections and the second phase currently at 89% completion. Once operational, the flyover is expected to reduce travel time significantly, with around 250 vehicles saving 20 to 25 minutes daily.

So, if you are tired of getting stuck in traffic jams on Sinhagad Road, relief is on the way! Keep an eye out for the opening of this much-needed flyover in March 2025.
