Viman Nagar, February 19, 2025: Chaos ensued at Pune Airport as more than 100 passengers were left stranded after two SpiceJet flights were abruptly canceled. The affected flights, a Pune-Ahmedabad service and a Pune-Bhavnagar flight, left travelers frustrated and scrambling for alternative travel arrangements.
Divesh Vora, a resident of Vimannagar, was one of the passengers impacted by the cancellation of the Ahmedabad-bound flight. He had plans to attend his cousin’s wedding in Mount Abu and had meticulously scheduled a connecting train from Ahmedabad. However, the sudden cancellation of the flight threw a wrench in his plans, causing him to miss the wedding.
Similarly, on Tuesday morning, nearly 70 passengers scheduled to fly to Bhavnagar found themselves in a similar predicament. Mustafa Sadikot, one of the affected travelers, shared his experience of learning about the flight cancellation only upon reaching the airport. With no SpiceJet staff available to assist, passengers were left to fend for themselves and find alternative travel options.
SpiceJet responded to the passenger complaints, stating that the cancellations were due to operational reasons. The airline claimed that affected passengers were informed in advance and provided with alternative travel options. However, many passengers expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of immediate support and poor communication from the airline representatives at the airport.
The incidents at Pune Airport serve as a reminder of the importance of clear communication and timely assistance for passengers facing flight disruptions. Travelers are advised to stay informed and prepared for any unexpected changes in their travel plans to avoid similar inconveniences in the future.
