The State Excise Department in Pune is cracking down on pubs, bars, and hotels for violations in the wake of recent incidents. After a hit-and-run case in Kalyani Nagar and a drug party on Fergusson College Road, the department has formed 17 squads to inspect commercial establishments. Licences have been suspended for serving alcohol to minors and other violations. The Excise Department is taking strict action and will penalize establishments found in violation.
