Hey Pune peeps, have you heard about the recent crackdown on illegal liquor operations in the city? The State Excise Department has been on a roll, seizing 96 vehicles worth a whopping ₹3.00 crore in just a month!
With a total of 923 cases registered and 843 individuals arrested, it’s clear that the authorities aren’t messing around. Special teams led by Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryavanshi, District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase, and Assistant Commissioner Prasad Surve have been working tirelessly since 1st October to combat the illegal sale, manufacture, and transportation of country liquor.
Raids at multiple country liquor manufacturing units have resulted in the confiscation of vehicles, chemicals, and other materials used in the production of illegal liquor. The department is leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to put an end to this illegal activity.
To ensure a fair election process, 18 checkpoints have been set up across the district to monitor the movement of illicit liquor. And in a bold move, all liquor shops in Pune district will be closed from 6 p.m. on 18th November until voting concludes on 20th November. The shops will remain shut until the official results are announced on 23rd November.
So, let’s all do our part and report any suspicious activities related to illegal liquor. Together, we can make Pune a safer and more responsible place for all its residents. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
