The recent decision to remove Fursungi and Uruli Devachi from the municipal limits has caused a stir in the construction industry. With several construction projects awaiting approval from the Municipal Corporation, the sudden change has left many in limbo. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has been proactive in seeking clarity on the matter, reaching out to the Urban Development Department for guidance.
In a surprising turn of events, the department has shifted the responsibility to the Municipal Councils, effectively cutting off the Corporation’s authority over these villages. This move has not only halted pending construction permits but has also thrown a wrench in the works for the Corporation’s TP scheme, covering a substantial 371 hectares.
The TP scheme, which was nearing completion, was set to cost the Corporation a hefty ₹700 crore. However, with the exclusion of Fursungi and Uruli Devachi, the future of this ambitious project is now uncertain. Commissioner Bhosale’s efforts to seek clarification from the state government have shed light on the challenges ahead, as the Corporation navigates this unexpected setback.
