In the upcoming State Assembly elections in Pune, candidates with similar names are causing quite a stir. In Dindori Lok Sabha constituency, the NCP (SP) fielded Bhaskar Bhagare, only to have another candidate with the same name also contesting and polling over one lakh votes. This has become a hot topic of discussion across the State.

Similarly, in Nandgaon (Nashik), Shiv Sena (BT) candidate Suhas Kande is facing competition from another candidate with the same name. In Nashik (East) constituency, there are two candidates named Ganesh Gite, one of them being from NCP (SP). In Nashik Central, Shiv Sena’s (UBT) Vasant Gite is also up against a namesake.

In Koregaon Assembly segment in Satara, NCP (SP) candidate Shashikant Shinde is running against an independent candidate with the same name. And in Dapoli, there are two Yogesh Kadams, one of them representing Shiv Sena (BT). Similarly, two independent candidates with names resembling Shiv Sena’s (UBT) Sanjay Kadam are also in the race.

In the Parvati segment in Pune, NCP (SP) candidate Ashwini Kadam is facing two namesakes as opponents, including Ashwini Anil Kadam. The NCP (SP) has raised objections to a candidate named Bapu Baban Pathare from Vadgaon Sheri, as their official candidate is Bapusaheb Pathare. It will be interesting to see how these namesake candidates impact the election results.
