With the temperatures heating up in Pune, the demand for sugar and jaggery is on the rise as people reach for cold beverages to cool down. This increase in demand has caused prices to surge by ₹50 to ₹100 per quintal in just a week, according to traders.
Jaggery prices are also on the rise due to a shortage of sugarcane, leading to a decrease in production and shutting down of many gurhals. As a result, the supply of jaggery has decreased, causing prices to go up.
On the other hand, green pea prices have seen a decline as there has been an influx of supply from other states, particularly Uttar Pradesh. Wholesale traders have reported a decrease of ₹1,500–₹2,000 per quintal in prices last week.
Edible oil prices have slightly decreased due to low demand, with soybean oil prices falling by ₹15 to ₹20 per 15 kg container. Prices of other edible oils like groundnut oil, coconut oil, and vegetable ghee have remained stable.
The arrival of new wheat and Gavran Jowar has increased, keeping prices stable, along with unchanged rice prices. Kabuli chana prices have dropped by ₹1,000 per quintal due to increased supply.
Pulses like tur dal, matki, masoor, and urad dal have seen stable prices due to low imports and exports, while gram dal prices have decreased by ₹100 per quintal. Gram flour prices have also dropped by ₹50 per 50 kg bag due to weak demand.
