Sunil Tingre, the Mahayuti candidate for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, recently assured Yerawada residents of significant funds being allocated for the area’s development, promising to enhance its infrastructure and overall image. During a campaign tour on Sunday, Tingre outlined key projects that are set to reshape Yerawada’s future, making it a more prominent part of Maharashtra.
Some of the planned initiatives include a new central government building, a psychiatric hospital, and a metro station. These projects are expected to elevate Yerawada’s importance within Pune and across the state. Tingre emphasized the importance of these developments in changing the public’s perception of the area, particularly highlighting the impact of the long-awaited metro station.
One of the critical projects discussed by Tingre was the construction of a modern vegetable market and trading complex in Yerawada. This project aims to address traffic congestion caused by the informal market and provide designated spaces for vendors. With around ₹10 crore allocated for this initiative, residents can expect a significant improvement in traffic flow.
In addition to the market complex, Tingre also mentioned plans to address traffic problems in Yerawada. A flyover has already been constructed at Golf Chowk, with future plans for grade separators and flyovers at other key junctions. The removal of the Bus Rapid Transit system on city roads has already improved traffic flow, and further developments are expected to alleviate congestion in the area.
The rally organized by Tingre saw enthusiastic participation from local residents and Mahayuti party workers, with many expressing optimism about the proposed developments. With funds secured for these projects, Yerawada is on track to becoming a modern, well-equipped hub in Maharashtra.
