Hey Pune folks, exciting news for all Dhol-Tasha enthusiasts! The Supreme Court has made a game-changing decision regarding the number of participants in Ganpati immersion processions. No longer are groups restricted to just 30 members – the ruling now allows for unlimited group sizes to join in the festivities.

But hold on, before you start assembling a massive Dhol-Tasha crew, it’s worth noting that many groups have decided to stick to the previous limit voluntarily. Why, you ask? Well, concerns about noise pollution and the time required for the procession have led these groups to be a bit more mindful about their numbers.

The initial restriction was put in place by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) due to worries about noise and environmental pollution. However, the Supreme Court stepped in on 12th September and put a halt to the NGT’s order, giving the green light for larger groups to partake in the immersion processions.

Parag Thakur, President of the Dhol-Tasha Association, expressed his relief at the decision. He mentioned that the groups were not consulted before the initial restriction was imposed, and he’s glad that today’s ruling takes their concerns into account. Thakur also advised all groups to stick to the usual limits set by the police, despite the newfound freedom to have larger numbers.

So, Pune peeps, get ready for some epic Dhol-Tasha action during the upcoming Ganpati immersion processions! Let’s make some noise (but not too much) and celebrate in style.
