Pune has been making headlines lately for all the wrong reasons. With the rise of gun gangs and Koyta gangs causing havoc on the streets, coupled with the growing pub culture and involvement of minors in addiction, the city’s reputation has taken a hit.

One incident that brought national attention to Pune was the Kalyani Nagar Porsche incident, where a minor allegedly under the influence of alcohol caused the death of two IT professionals in a two-wheeler collision. This tragic event has put the spotlight on the Police Administration, Maharashtra State Excise Department, and the Maharashtra State Government.

In response to these troubling incidents, Baramati MP and NCP Leader Supriya Sule took to social media to criticize Maharashtra’s Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. Sule emphasized that Pune is known for its educational institutions and IT sector, and recent events have tarnished its image as the ‘home of education’.

Sule called out the easy availability of drugs like marijuana and the rise of criminal activities in Pune, urging the government to prioritize the city’s safety and take immediate action to improve law and order. She also pointed out the neglect of Pune by the Home Minister and called for his presence in the city to address the escalating crime rates.

With calls for Fadnavis’s resignation from Indian National Congress Maharashtra State President Nana Patole and criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, it’s clear that there is growing dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the situation in Pune. The need for immediate action to curb crime and ensure the safety of citizens is more pressing than ever.
