1. Swargate bus depot in Pune has turned into a hazardous zone for commuters due to heavy rainfall causing potholes and flooded stretches.
  2. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has requested Rs 51 crore from headquarters in Mumbai for urgent repairs.
  3. Divisional controller Pramod Nehul confirmed that the 65-year-old depot needs significant repairs due to damage from relentless rain.
  4. MSRTC vice-chairman Madhav Kusekar outlined plans for a long-term redevelopment of the depot on a build-operate-transfer (BoT) model.
  5. Approximately 600 buses pass through the Swargate depot daily, including MSRTC’s premier Shivneri and e-Shivneri services to Mumbai and other districts.
  6. Passengers are urging for more permanent solutions to ensure their safety and convenience as the monsoon season continues.
