Tata Motors, in partnership with Tata International, has opened a new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Pune called ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect’. This facility has the capacity to recycle 21,000 end-of-life vehicles annually using environmentally friendly methods. It is operated by Tata International Vehicle Applications (TIVA) and can dismantle both passenger and commercial vehicles from any brand.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and the circular economy. He emphasized the importance of innovative recycling practices in extracting value from end-of-life vehicles while supporting India’s sustainability goals. Rajeev Batra, CEO of Tata International Vehicle Applications, noted the facility’s role in transforming India’s vehicle recycling landscape and meeting the demand for safe and efficient recycling.
The Re.Wi.Re facility in Pune follows strict environmental standards, using cell-type and line-type dismantling processes for vehicles. It has designated stations for the safe removal of hazardous materials like tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, and gases. Each vehicle undergoes a detailed dismantling process to comply with India’s national vehicle scrappage policy.
This new facility in Pune adds to the existing Re.Wi.Re network in Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR. These facilities operate in a digitalized and paperless environment, setting new standards for efficiency and sustainability in the automotive industry.
