Thick fog disrupted operations at Pune International Airport on Saturday, causing delays for 22 flights. Key domestic destinations like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai were impacted, along with the international destination of Bangkok. The airport, which has seen a rise in air traffic in recent years, faced challenges managing operations during the adverse weather conditions.

Passengers expressed frustration over missed appointments and prolonged waits, with some flights delayed by up to five hours. In a separate development, the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to rename the airport as “Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Airport.”

The incident highlighted the importance of effective communication between airlines and passengers during such disruptions, and the need for infrastructure upgrades and contingency planning to support the airport’s growth as a key aviation hub.
