An unfortunate accident shook the quiet stretch of the old Pune-Nashik highway near Manchar-Shewalwadi on Tuesday evening. At around 5:30 PM, chaos ensued as one MSRTC bus rammed into another, leaving three passengers injured and both buses severely damaged.

The cause of the accident? Brake failure. The first bus, on its way from Pune to Ale Phata, suddenly came to a halt after crossing the Shewalwadi bridge, leaving the driver desperately trying to control the situation. However, the bus behind it, en route from Saswad-Pune via Nashik, couldn’t stop in time and crashed into the stranded vehicle.

Amidst the chaos, three passengers, including residents of Ambegaon and Pune, suffered injuries. Thanks to the quick response of Dr. Priya Chavan and her medical team at the Sub District Hospital in Manchar, the injured individuals are now in stable condition.

Following the incident, Balaji Suryavanshi, Depot Head of Manchar MSRTC Depot, stepped in to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers. Alternative transportation arrangements were made promptly to ensure that everyone could continue their journeys without further delay.

Local police were on the scene to conduct an investigation and document the details of the accident. Eyewitnesses noted that the area, usually bustling with activity, was eerily quiet due to the rain, potentially averting a more disastrous outcome.

As the dust settles and the injured recover, the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance on our highways. Let’s hope for a speedy recovery for all those affected by this unfortunate event.
