As we gear up to celebrate Abhivadan Din on 1st January, it’s important to note the changes in traffic management this year. With thousands of people expected to gather near the Vijay Sthamb in Bhima Koregaon, Pune District, it’s no surprise that traffic congestion has been a major issue in the past. To address this, all vehicles travelling from Mumbai to Bhima Koregaon will now be directed to take the Dehu Road route. This route will pass through Vadgaon Maval, Dehu Road, Charholi, Alandi, Markal, Tulapur, Lonikand, and Perne.

Last year, parking and other facilities were insufficient, leading to chaos during the celebrations. To avoid a repeat of this situation, locals have suggested that visitors park their vehicles in Perne, which is closer to Bhima Koregaon. This change has been officially announced by Pune District Collector Dr Suhas Diwase, and a circular has been circulated regarding this new arrangement.

Preparations for this traffic management plan have already begun, with coordination between the Traffic Branches of Pune City Police Commissionerate, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, and the Pune Rural Police Force. So if you’re planning to visit Bhima Koregaon on 1st January, make sure to take note of these changes to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience.
