As Diwali shoppers flood the central markets of Pune, the city’s traffic police have implemented temporary traffic restrictions to prevent congestion in the central part of Pune. People parking their vehicles on the roads have led to concerns over traffic jams, prompting Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende to issue an order banning four-wheelers on Shivaji Road until November 5.
Traffic Diversion and Route Changes:
– Four-wheeler vehicles heading from Shivajinagar via Shivaji Road are now being diverted from Sadashiv Govind Barve Chowk. Alternate Route: Drivers can proceed via Jungli Maharaj Road and Tilak Chowk to reach their destinations.
– For vehicles travelling from Swargate on Bajirao Road towards Shivajinagar via Puram Chowk, a left turn at Puram Chowk will direct them towards Tilak Road, passing S.P. College and Alka Chowk. Alternate Route: Vehicles can also continue straight on Bajirao Road to reach their destination.
– Traffic moving from Appa Balwant Chowk towards Budhwar Chowk will be closed when necessary, as will traffic from Futka Baruj towards Jogeshwari Chowk. Alternate Route: Drivers can continue straight on Shivaji Road to reach their desired destination.
– Further closures will occur for vehicles heading to Mandai from Shanipar Chowk and Kumthekar Road. Alternate Route: Vehicles can use Bajirao Road to reach their destinations.
Parking Arrangements for Shoppers:
To alleviate traffic congestion, citizens visiting Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, Lakshmi Road, Kumthekar Road, Kelkar Road, and Mandai are advised to park their vehicles at designated locations, including Babu Genu Parking, Misal Parking, Hamalwada Parking, and Sane Parking.
