Hey there, folks! Today we have some tragic news coming out of Wagholi on the Pune-Nagar Highway. A fatal accident took the life of 32-year-old Sirichandana Vishwanath Hevtam while her husband, Vishwanath, was left injured.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning near Chitale Sweet Home in Wagholi. The couple was on their way back home after a friendly game of badminton when a speeding dumper collided with their two-wheeler, resulting in the tragic accident.

Witnesses described the impact as severe, with Sirichandana being thrown off the bike and crushed under the wheels of the heavy vehicle. Her husband, Vishwanath, also suffered injuries after being thrown from the bike. The driver of the dumper fled the scene immediately following the accident.

Authorities quickly responded to the scene, and Sirichandana’s body was taken to Sassoon Hospital for postmortem. The accident caused a major traffic jam on the highway as onlookers gathered in shock.

This is the second fatal accident involving a dumper on this stretch of road in just two weeks, sparking concerns about illegal heavy vehicle traffic. Residents and commuters have expressed frustration over the frequent violations of restrictions on heavy vehicles, which are prohibited on city roads during specific hours.

Despite recent enforcement efforts, it was discovered that the dumper involved in Sunday’s accident was operating during restricted hours. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Sirichandana during this difficult time. Stay safe out there, everyone.
