Tragedy struck near Dabade Lake in Talegaon as a student from DY Patil College went missing on 23rd May 2024. The district administration wasted no time in seeking help from INS Shivaji in Lonavala to locate the missing student. A Naval diving team was quickly dispatched to the site, about 40 km away, equipped with all the necessary gear and inflatable craft.
With the help of locals and the district administration, the Naval divers began their search operation. Spot diving was conducted at different locations around the lake, while the search operation continued with the assistance of inflatable craft. Despite the challenges, the efforts paid off when the body of the missing student was finally found and handed over to local authorities on 24th May 2024.
It’s a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers that can lurk in seemingly peaceful surroundings, and a testament to the swift response and professionalism of the Naval diving team. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the student during this difficult time.
