Hey there, folks! It’s a sad day in Pune as a 19-year-old youth met a tragic end after drowning in a pit near Khadakwasla dam. The authorities have recovered the body of the young man, identified as Mayur Ganesh Naidu.
Mayur had gone to the dam with his family and cousins to wash some bed covers and sheets in the water released from the dam. Unfortunately, despite being a confident swimmer, he failed to resurface after jumping into the water.
His mother, who had gone home to fetch lunch, was devastated upon hearing the news and called for help. The neighbors quickly came to her aid and alerted the police and fire brigade.
In a true display of community spirit, the neighbors even reached out to MLA Bhimrao Tapkir to request a reduction in water flow from the dam to aid in the search and rescue efforts.
The fire brigades from PMC and PMRDA worked tirelessly, forming a search chain using ropes until they located Mayur’s body stuck in a pit. Thanks to their efforts, they were able to retrieve his body and bring closure to this tragic incident.
Our hearts go out to Mayur’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. Stay safe, Pune.
