Hey Pune folks, have you noticed something missing from your daily routine? Well, if you haven’t, here’s a heads up – the Air Quality Index (AQI) data that you usually rely on to check the pollution levels in the city is currently unavailable.
Vivek Velankar, President of the Sajag Nagrik Manch, recently highlighted this issue and called on the Pune Municipal Commissioner to step in and make the daily AQI data accessible to the public. The monitoring system, set up at 45 locations across Pune by the Municipal Corporation and Pune Smart City, is a crucial tool in the fight against air pollution in the city.
Pune has been grappling with high levels of air pollution, making it essential for citizens to stay informed about the air quality status. With significant funds being allocated towards pollution control measures, it’s vital that the AQI data is updated regularly and made available to everyone.
Velankar pointed out that despite the installation of the monitoring system, the data is not being updated as required. The Sajag Nagrik Manch is pushing for the missing data to be published daily on the Municipal Corporation’s website, ensuring transparency and awareness among the citizens.
With the responsibility now shifted to the Disaster Management Department of the municipality, it’s crucial that they prioritize updating the AQI data and keeping the public informed. After all, it’s the citizens’ tax money that funded these initiatives, and they deserve to have access to this critical information.
So, Pune residents, let’s keep an eye out for updates on the AQI data and make sure we stay informed about the air quality in our city. Together, we can work towards a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
