Varasgaon Dam in Pune Expected to Release Water as Reservoir Reaches 80% Capacity

1. Heavy rains in Pune have caused Varasgaon Dam to reach 80% capacity by 4:00 PM today. If the rain continues, water may be released from the spillway.
2. Executive Engineer Shweta Kurhade of the Khadakwasla irrigation department has warned residents living along the riverbanks to stay away from the river and move any agricultural equipment or livestock to safer places.
3. Citizens in low-lying areas are urged to stay vigilant and take precautions as the dam may release more water due to the rising levels caused by the heavy rainfall.
