Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, was celebrated in the Kashmir Valley with great enthusiasm and joy. The Punit Balan Group (PBG) and the Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti organized the Dussehra Mahotsav 2024 for the second year in a row in Srinagar. Huge crowds gathered to witness the burning of Ravana’s effigy, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.

Punit Balan, the President of the Punit Balan Group, mentioned that Vijayadashami represents the triumph of good over evil and truth over untruth, and the festival was started in the Kashmir Valley to promote communal harmony and preserve cultural heritage. The local citizens showed overwhelming support for the festival, and Punit Balan expressed his gratitude towards the Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti and others involved in organizing the event.

The celebrations took place at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, highlighting the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Kashmir Valley. Effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkarn were burnt to convey the message of symbolic victory over evil.

This public celebration of the Vijayadashami festival in Kashmir brought together people from various backgrounds, including government officials, showcasing unity in diversity. The event strengthened the idea of communal harmony and cultural unity between Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims in the region.
